When I installed this card with a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW LCD monitor with a widescreen 16:10 format, and a DVI digital cable, I could not select a higher resolution than 1280x960 (4:3 format), even though the EVGA spec sheet states that 1600x1024 is available. All images were distorted because the horizontal dimension was getting stretched to fit the 16:10 format of this monitor. Calls to Samsung and EVGA confirmed the latest drivers were installed. Samsung tech support says their monitor supports a 1680x1050 DVI input. EVGA tech support had me switch to an analog cable, and create a custom 1680x1050 resolution (native resolution for this Samsung monitor) using the EVGA classic panel. Using the analog output of the card at the new 1680x1050 resolution gave an excellent image on the monitor. This 22" monitor has 3000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time. The "3" rating is because of the limited EVGA resolution using the digital output.

I've had no problems running this card in my 200W(power supply) desktop, and playing games for hours at a time.

Here's a tip: when you put the card in, don't forget to change the monitor connector from the old card/onboard graphics to this card. I spent about 30 minutes installing and reinstalling the card into the machine, and wondering why it wasn't working, and using alot of expletives, I might add. And then it hit me: the monitor is still connected to the onboard graphics! Doh!

Works great. :)

My computer is only a couple years old but already has an outdated video card. I bought this video card because it was the only "PCI" port (not PCI express) that I found anywhere that stated "3.0 shader" in the description - which you need to play some of the newer games. The card works great for my older and less demanding games but looks like I'll be getting a new computer to play the newer games.

If your the person who doesnt want to spend a whole lot on a ati pci last upgrade then this card is for you, whether your a gamer or not, this video card is great for doing video editing ext. with it,I was really impressed on the Resolution on this card which supports the highest of 1600 by 1200 pixels and is real good for flatpanels and the card comes with all accessories with the addon for the DVI to allow you to plug into a standard monitor instead of the option like s-video and dvi inputs if you have at least 512 and hav a processor of a 700 or 800 MHz, then this card will allow you to play games like FEAR on low settings, but comes out great for the quake games like quake 3 arena, i bought this to play LAN games like red faction and Farcry and this card is an excellent buy for a gift on low end machines.The ups got confused with my order and sent mine to the wrong address though but I called amazon and they replaced my order free of charge. thanks amazon for the great products.

The 7800 GTX, which promises 600 MHz, 256 MB DDR3 memory and 256-bit graphics core clock speed of 430 MHz, is the absolute fastest video card, up to now, money can buy.

Although the clock speeds higher, 7800 uses a single slot cooling solution. This is possible because the processor size20 NM is smaller, but their 8600 first. Also contributing to the cooling of this card is enhanced power management system, which automatically turn off unused parts of the chip.

If your computer only has an AGP graphics card slot, this is pretty much the cheapest card available. It will power modern monitors (only natively supports VGA although you can use a converter to DVI), even at resolutions up to 1920x1200. It's not going to play modern games, but for powering a monitor or playing games prior to 2004, it will work just fine.

PROS:
Cheap
Supports up to 1920x1200 resolutions

CONS:
No DVI out
Only one monitor connection
Poor graphics performance

Conclusions:
Suitable to older computers that need a replacement graphics card and use a VGA monitor. Not recommended for today's games, dual monitor configurations, or DVI monitors.

So far this card has been great. I've run Kubuntu Dapper and now Sabayon 3.3 on it. I also ran Beryl on both distros without a problem. On Kubuntu just download the Nvidia drivers from the repos, and Sabayon already comes with them. Since this card is Vista compatible, I think I may try that out later. As far as gaming I could not help much, It played Cube 2 and Cold War fine on my PC but I only played them for a few minutes. I highly recommend this Graphics Card.

If your motherboard has a IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) and you do not have an AGP slot this card is great. Handles most any game I threw at it extremely well. Took a lot of pressure off of the Main CPU. I got this about a year ago, and have been very happy since. The Video out port is nice to watch DVDs on your TV. Or if you want to a video feed to your VCR.

There are not many high grade cards that are made for a regular PCI slot anymore. This is a great card for most moderate PC gamers or average computer users. Just make sure you do have good ventilation in your computer case as this card runs a little warm.

I bought this to expand my system to 3 monitors -- 2 is good, 3 is WAY better. My AGP slot was already filled with my main video card, so I needed another for more video out ports. (PCI not PCIe; yes, there's a difference.) I plugged it in, let Vista recognize it, rebooted and I was good to go.

This is a dual monitor card so I could go to 4 monitors if I find some more desk real estate. Both video out ports are only VGA.

My third monitor is a piece of junk 17-inch CRT, but it works just fine with the card.

Extra tip:
Use DisplayFusion (free) to gain control of your multiple-monitor setup.

I picked this up recently for less than $30/- and installed it on my old Dell E310 which required a much needed boost. My machine have only PCI slots (and 1 PCI-E 1x) so a PCI card was obvious choice.

Pros:
- Very easy to install (whole process took less than 5 minutes)
- Decent performance for my old machine
- Supports 2 monitors
- Boosted my Vista Experience score (for 3D) from 1.0 to 2.9
- Vista Aero features now run flawlessly on my machine (they would not run on older card).
- Vista installed drivers automatically (I had to do nothing as far as device drivers are concerned)
- Movies and Pictures look a bit better (more sharper with better colors)
- Very competitive price

Cons:
- Absolutely none so far

This card thou does not seem to be powerful enough to run modern games, older games should be fine.
Definitely recommended for home users who cannot upgrade to PCI-E cards.

Update: Feb 2010
I updated to Windows 7 few months back and this card is actually performing even better in Windows 7. For some reason after install, windows experience score (for 3d) came down to 1.0 but after few days and a windows update the score was boosted to 3.0. I am more than satisfied with this cards performance on windows 7.....
