I recently purchased this unit for a dual monitor set at home. This is over a year after buying one for my office use. I am an accountant and mostly deal with non graphics intense business programs. It has been the perfect inexpensive way to set me up with dual monitors for general business applications.
If I had the need I would buy this product again knowing that I can depend on its performance for me.
The low resolution on the flat screen monitor on my six year old Compaq desktop computer was not displaying properly, lots of double images and blurring. I decided to replace the monitor with a new widescreen one, a Compaq Q1859 with 1366X768 resolution and read that I first needed to install a new PCI video card. The computer is running Windows XP Home, an Intel Celeron processor and an integrated video card which, as it turned out, had failed. This PNY video card worked out perfectly. Installation was simple, the 250 watt power supply was sufficient, and the picture quality is GREAT!!!
Seeking an upgrade to accomodate my son's games (Sim2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3) and facilitate Direct X capabilities, this graphics card was recommended. Less expensive than other options, this item also featured simplistic directions and illustrations that my 11 yr. old was able to follow and execute himself. The installation and immediate enhancement upon reboot were both flawless. Wish we would have done it sooner!
Just as the title says, here I test the GTS 250 with Call Of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare. All the textures were set to extra, the anisotropic filtering was maximum, the resolution 1440*900. The average FPS with FRAPS were 30-40 and without from 40-120. I had to make two movies instead of one because YouTube accepts only 10 mins log videos, otherwise, they'll delete it. Enjoy the video. This graphics card works like a charm on my 8-year-old Intel motherboard with a 4x AGP slot. Running WXP Professional with SP3, I'm now back in business after my AMD ATI Radeon AIW 9800 Professional went bad.
I'm upgrading a dell dimension 2400 for a friend. Added memory, a hard drive and this video card. Loaded call of duty, battlefield 1942 and typhoon rising and they work well and look great considering it is a pci card. The setup on Typhoon Rising put all graphic options near the top settings and it looks great. Pleasantly suprised with the performance and love the price. Handles directx 9 and t&l.
